Acts of the Holy Spirit, the Unfinished Work of Jesus

From Pastor Mie's Good Morning message in the bulletin:

The Israeli settlement of Netzarim in the heart of the Gaza Strip was a point of much conflict with militant Palestinians for several years. The conflict was so great that the settlement was evacuated in 2005.

Those who lived in Netzarim did so at great personal risk because they felt it was an important part of keeping their land free. A schoolteacher, Shlomit Ziv, who lived in Netzarim in 2001 said, “I don’t live where it’s comfortable; I live where it’s important to live.”

Today, we each of us will make a decision in regard to the master of our lives. Like Shlomit Ziv, we will choose to be obedient to our savior and live in a place that’s important, or a place of comfort. Choosing Jesus doesn’t mean that our lives suddenly become a Disneyland of comfort and enjoyment. It means that God begins to use our brokenness to show His power and love to a broken world. In the power of His Holy Spirit He comes along side of us and helps us carry our burden of humanity. In the process He shows others both His Love and Tells His story.

Receiving Christ as our savior is about His love rescuing us from an eternity in Hell and preparing us to live in eternity enjoying Him as we praise and worship Him. God isn’t the divine fixer of our problems; He is the one who gives us a new life of peace that passes understanding in the midst of the chaos of the world. Don’t you just love Him? I do! Won’t you join me and others as we become His worshippers?
