Acts of the Holy Spirit, the Unfinished Work of Jesus

From Pastor Mike's Good Morning message in the bulletin:

In Fox’s Book of Martyrs, there is the story of a 26-year-old mother named Perpetua. The early church was growing dramatically, and she came to faith in Jesus. The Roman government was trying to get her to renounce her faith, but she refused. They threw her in prison. Her father came and begged her to pay homage to the Romans so she could be freed and care for him as he was elderly. They dragged her father away and killed him. They brought her son to her and she held him in her arms, but they took him away and killed him as well. She died, of a broken heart. Every mother can understand that. It’s almost unbearable. Yet her faith endured.

We often wonder why God permits His saints to go through such terrible trials, I know that I do. Yet, I have come to believe that an iron faith comes through and is formed in the forge of fire. You may be one who is experiencing the heat of the forge but remain faithful because in it God is forming you into a wonderful instrument for His glory. He speaks to us in our trials and walks with us through the fire, just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
